Ice forecasts for the Great Lakes issued by Environment Canada at
12:00 P.M. EDT Wednesday 18 March 2026 for today tonight and
Thursday.
The next scheduled forecasts will be issued at 12:00 P.M. Thursday.

Western Lake Superior.
3 tenths new lake ice including 1 tenth thick lake ice except 9
tenths thick lake ice along parts of the southern shore.
Consolidated thick lake ice in Thunder Bay and along parts of the
southern shore. Consolidated very thick lake ice in Black Bay and
Nipigon Bay. 

Eastern Lake Superior.
1 tenth thick lake ice except 9 tenths thin lake ice including 4
tenths thick lake ice along parts of the shores. Consolidated thick
lake ice along parts of the southern shore. 

Whitefish Bay.
7 tenths thick lake ice. Consolidated thick lake ice in the
southeastern section. 

North Channel.
Consolidated thick lake ice. 

Northern Lake Huron.
3 tenths new lake ice including 1 tenth thick lake ice except 7
tenths thin lake ice including 2 tenths thick lake ice in the
northwestern section. 9 tenths thick lake ice along parts of the
Bruce Peninsula shore. Consolidated thick lake ice along parts of
the shore and near the Straits of Mackinac. 

Southern Lake Huron.
Open water except 7 tenths new lake ice including 2 tenths thick
lake ice along parts of the shores. Consolidated thick lake ice
along parts of the northeastern shore. 

Northern Georgian Bay.
9 tenths new lake ice including 3 tenths thick lake ice except 9
tenths thick lake ice in the southern section. Consolidated thick
lake ice along parts of the shore. 

Southern Georgian Bay.
2 tenths thick lake ice except 9 tenths thick lake ice in the
northern section. Consolidated thick lake ice along parts of the
shore. 

Lake St. Clair.
2 tenths new lake ice. 

Western Lake Erie.
Open water. 

Eastern Lake Erie.
2 tenths thick lake ice except 9 plus tenths thick lake ice in the
extreme eastern section. Consolidated thick lake ice along parts of
the eastern shore. 

Western Lake Ontario.
Open water. 

Eastern Lake Ontario.
Open water except 2 tenths thick lake ice in the extreme
northeastern section. Consolidated rotten thick lake ice along parts
of the shore and in the Bay of Quinte. 

Northern Lake Michigan.
1 tenth new lake ice except 7 tenths new lake ice including 2 tenths
thick lake ice in the northeastern section. 

Southern Lake Michigan.
Open water. 

Green Bay.
7 tenths thick lake ice. Consolidated thick lake ice in Bays de Noc
and in southern Green Bay.

    • Use the Tab key to move to a button or link
    • Use the Enter key to click on buttons or links
    • Organize shortcuts navigation
      • Use the ↑ Up key to select the link above. If none are selected, it will select the first link.
      • Use the ↓ Down key to select the link below. If none are selected, it will select the last link.
      • Use the Page Up key to move a selection up in the list.
      • Use the Page Down key to move a selection down in the list.
  • Restore default list
